Types of Sports Performance Programs
Sports Foundation Program
This sets the stage for top performances during race season. The bigger and better the base training and nutrition,
the higher you can go on the performance ladder. Choose this program if your goal race or race season is more than
12 weeks away or if your goal is to recover from limiting health issues such as anemia, illness, or injury. Nutrition
emphasis is on habituation to a quality athletic diet with proper proportions of carbohydrate, fat and protein, health,
muscle growth, supplement routine, increasing fat metabolism, and timing of nutrient intake and training. Training
emphasis is development of aerobic base, strength and economy.
Recommendation: For the best results, combine this program with the Race Preparation Program or
Lactate Threshold and Speed Phase Program 6-12 weeks prior to your goal race.
Pre-season Program
This program helps you transition into the higher metabolic and physical demands of pre-season training. Choose this
if your goal race is more than 6 weeks away. Nutrition and lifestyle emphasis is on full recovery after each training
session, practice of race fueling and hydration, optimal race weight, development of pre-race meal strategies, nutrient
proportions, supplements, immune system support and blood building strategies. Training phase goals include raising
the lactate threshold, maintaining aerobic base and speed development.
Race Preparation Program
Choose this program 6-8 weeks prior to your goal race. This will take you through to the event and will include fat
loading, glycogen loading, electrolyte loading, supplements, eating strategies the day before and morning of and race event
fueling and hydration. Training phase goals will be taper and rest for the goal race. This program is most effective
combined with either the Lactate or Base phase programs.
Training Schedules/Advising
This option is available to endurance athletes who were previous participants of Foundation or Lactate Phase programs.
The cost is $60 per calendar month. Payment will be made at the beginning of each month. The client will e-mail
a log of previous training each Monday. Each schedule will be determined by the training load you were able to do
in the previous weeks, and tailored to your goals and your time demands.
